Presented in blocks of brilliant colors, the multihued train in this Caldecott Honor book undertakes a dazzling journey before disappearing from the final page. Ages 2-up. (Sept.)

The sense of 'train-ness' captured in the original picture book is somewhat diminished because of the significantly smaller size of the board book. Otherwise, all the elements that made the first edition superb--the pacing, the clear concepts, the strong graphics--remain.

Toddler-PreS The classic picture book is now available as a bilingual board book. This much-needed adaptation is a great size and holds just as much appeal in this smaller format. The English text is at the top of each line, with the Spanish text directly underneath it. This will be a perfect storytime book for choral reading and one-on-one use at home.

In simple, powerful words and vibrant illustrations, Donald Crews evokes the rolling wheels of that childhood favorite: a train. This oversize edition (17 1/2 x 14 3/8") is perfect for sharing in a classroom or library.

This Calecott Honor Book features bright colors and bold shapes. Even a child not lucky enough to have counted freight cars will feel he or she has watched a freight train passing after reading Freight Train.

Donald Crews used childhood memories of trains seen during his travels to his grandparents' farm in the American South as the inspiration for this timeless favorite.

Red caboose at the back, orange tank car, green cattle car, purple box car, black tender and a black steam engine . . . freight train.
