ALA Booklist

James would do anything to help cure his grandfather's illness. So when a mysterious e-mail from someone called the Benefactor offers James a chance to be part of a contest with a 10-million-dollar prize, James has to take it. All he needs to do to take home the prize is complete 10 tasks. As the tasks become more threatening, James starts to wonder just what the contest is and who really is behind it. There is plenty of fast-paced suspense to keep the interest of reluctant readers, but there is little to the plot. Not much is resolved, and the book ends with an odd cliff-hanger, making it feel more like a short chapter in an overall story. Nevertheless, this suspenseful series starter is a good purchase for libraries looking to add more genre fiction to their high/low collections.
