Imagine you had backstage access to the best museums in the U.S. This is the case for best friends Amal Farah, Raining Sam, Clementine Wim, and Wilson Kipper, whose parents work at various Capitol City museums. Their private access comes in handy when the space suit of Sally Ride, the first American female astronaut, goes missing from a special exhibit. Does the disappearance have anything to do with the mysterious late-night noises coming from the Air and Space Museum's hidden hallways? And can the friends put their heads together to solve the puzzle, or will this famous historical artifact stay missing forever? As the author of Field Trip Mysteries, Brezenoff is well rehearsed in the genre and constructs a fun puzzle. After-hours museums (especially these stand-ins for the Smithsonian complex) are wonderful settings, and the children solving the case have distinctly realized interests and personalities. Overall, the series promises to provide a powerful and delightfully understated representation of multiethnicity with cross-gender appeal, and it's refreshing and exciting to see a hero in a hijab.
