Horn Book (Mon Apr 01 00:00:00 CST 1996)

Although the illustrations are 'inspired by the work of Garth Williams,' they lack the emotion Williams captured in his drawings depicting Laura's and Almanzo's families. The brief texts, adapted from 'Little House on the Prairie' and 'Farmer Boy' (both Harper), seem lifeless without the contexts of Wilder's beautifully written novels.
