Horn Book (Tue Aug 01 00:00:00 CDT 2017)

These books offer contrived, often awkward explanations of the basic science involved in each situation. Two children learn about mudslides and erosion, and a family drives in a blizzard, prompting a discussion about weather prediction. The cartoonlike illustrations add little value. Two appended experiments in each volume will be of interest, although some steps could be more clearly illustrated. Reading list, websites. Glos.
