In this collection originally published in 1951, the Provensens lend their two-dimensional but expressive style to Stevenson's rhythmic, child-voiced 1885 poems. Several poems are omitted, likely because of changing cultural attitudes, and there are small modifications in sequence and layout. The digitally restored illustrations are more muted than in previous editions; the effect is a pastel, child-friendly volume with appeal to the nursery-rhyme set.

How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
