Ninjas and bunnies, two contradictory but popular themes, make an appealing combination in this life lesson. The book's title doesn't divulge its purpose: rules for becoming a super awesome ninja. It's not easy. The title page shows the appealing bunny falling on his face in a series of jumps and a splat. Yet he is valiant in his efforts to possess incredible strength and fulfill all expectations. The straightforward text contrasts neatly with the humorous cartoon-style illustrations that show readers how fallible our hero is with ears and a tail that pop out of his ninja outfits. Still, he is clever. When he needs ninja weapons, he arms himself with a broom, spatula forks, and lots of carrots. Sometimes dominating a page, sometimes only a tiny figure on pages of bold color, Ninja Bunny, with a little help from his friends, becomes the hero he is meant to be.

K-Gr 2 Little Bunny has 10 rules about how to be a super awesome ninja with the most important one being that a super awesome ninja must work alone. But when a bear comes rumbling in and challenges Little Bunny, he learns a valuable lesson that all super awesome ninjas need to knowthe value of having super awesome friends. Complemented by ink and watercolor illustrations, the text consists of Ninja Bunny's various rules. Readers watch Little Bunny master the art of invisibility (by hiding behind a bush), create ninja weapons (out of carrots), and learn the art of flying (by falling out of a tree). Children will love reading about Little Bunny's adventures. VERDICT A fun addition, especially where ninjas are popular. Paige Garrison, Aurora Central Public Library, CO
