Here's a complicated subject made easy ll, easier. This title from the Data Geek series introduces the topic at hand by breaking it down by the title's main words, explaining the forms data can take, and how ethics can be both cultural and personal. Finding reliable data and using it responsibly are the topics making up the core of the book, but there are also tangential issues that are important: collection methods and approved data sources among them. The slim volume with its large typeface takes the intimidation factor away, though the stock photos add little. Young people who don't normally work with data may find some of the information dense. But the final page, a discussion of the Flint, Michigan, water crisis, offers a real-life situation that brings the issue home.
