Gr 3-5-These small, tidy packages offer more than might be expected, given their length. Every page of text faces a full-page photograph or illustration, often in color, accompanied by an informative caption. Each volume sports bibliographic information sometimes lacking in larger treatments. The texts may be brief but the theories offered for each mystery, some evidence, and a sampling of the research that has been done are all put forth clearly. Although not as detailed as works for older readers that laboriously recount the experiences of alleged eyewitnesses to these mysteries, these books are surprisingly comprehensive presentations on endlessly intriguing topics.
