Middle-school readers are sure to recognize most of the celebrities newly added to the Beacon Biography series. Though the layout can be bland, each title uses engaging writing to introduce its star, relating his or her childhood and "big break" as well as other noteworthy accomplishments. Though most readers will know the versatile actor showcased in Chadwick Boseman from his starring role as the Black Panther, he earned his acting cred through hard work and by making biopics of important African American figures, such as Jackie Robinson and Thurgood Marshall. With current content, well-cited sources, and figures of interest to youngsters, these biographies are a solid choice for libraries.
