Page-filling images pair with inviting paragraphs about the Atlantic Ocean in this installment in the Oceans of the World series (5 titles). The page spreads cover a wide range of facts, including the Gulf Stream, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, hurricanes, sea life, and icebergs. Full-color photos of sea creatures, weather patterns, and ships, as well as useful maps, are certainly eye-catching, though they don't always complement the text e spread about the Gulf Stream, for instance, appears next to a photo of a marlin. While there's not a discernible order to the topics, and the paragraphs are quite general, the tidbits of information should nevertheless pique students' curiosity. A spread about the Sargasso Sea, for instance, calls it "the world's only sea inside an ocean." A bubbly introduction that should spark further interest.
