The Life Skills series (6 titles) tackles problems that face young people every day. The books in the series not only describe and identify the issues but they also offer suggestions and strategies to help readers get more control over their problems. Avoiding Bullies? perhaps spends too much time explaining bullying, something kids know when they see or experience it, but there are solid suggestions for dealing with it, both in person and online. All the books feature several "skills for life" boxes with specific suggestions. A helpful series for library shelves.

Bullying can take many forms, from verbal threats and physical confrontation to social ostracism and cyberbullying. It can happen to anyone, regardless of race, sexual orientation, or disability; it can happen at school or at home. Readers will learn how to cope with bullying, how to boost their self-esteem, how to help a friend, and even how to know whether their own behavior constitutes bullying. Sidebars provide practical advice on every aspect of bullying, including what to do if the bully is a teacher or parent.
