Aug. 2018. lib. ed. $37.07. Gr 7 Up This series presents an in-depth look at economic and environmental concerns related to climate change. Entries contain three lengthy chapters that give an overview of the topic, its history, and modern and future solutions and technological advances. The text-heavy, single-column design incorporates small photographs (mostly color) on some pages. "Did You Know?" sidebars provide fascinating facts and anecdotes. Other sidebars highlight the views of climate change skeptics. Each book also features a small section on global innovations. While much of the information is as up-to-date as 2017, recent important events are left out. For instance, while Extreme Weather Events briefly mentions Hurricane Maria, it fails to note the gravity of its impact on Puerto Rico. Similarly, the Paris Climate Agreement is mentioned in Air Quality and Pollution but not President Trump's controversial withdrawal. VERDICT Though the titles may soon be superseded, they are serviceable additions to most collections.
