Cultural, educational, and entertaining institutions occupy the pages of the Kids' Day Out series, which offers concise histories of popular field-trip and vacation spots. First up is Amusement Parks and Water Parks, which leads readers through some of the world's earliest parks, including Denmark's Bakken, the midway of the 1983 World's Fair, Coney Island, and Disneyland. Advancements in technology and, consequently, rides are discussed, though its roller-coaster history is a little shaky ney Island's Switchback Railroad is mentioned but never identified as a coaster. Though the illustrations don't always directly correlate to the text on the page, they are in keeping with the chapter's topic. Readers will come away from these interesting guides with a better understanding and appreciation of places they love are required visit.
