As the three begin to discover the truth behind their scary school, Lucy disappears. A puddle of slime and a hole at the back of her locker lead Sam and Antonio on a frightening trip through the churning innards of the school. Plenty of action words and direct sentences make this suitable for emerging readers, and with a cheery ending e friends emerge victorious into the sunlight will be a good fit for readers not quite ready for Lovecraft Middle School or Goosebumps, too.
