In this picture book, Amelia, a black-and-white Boston terrier with bright blue inner ears, learns to love reading and subsequently decides to publish a book of her own. Frequent visits to the library allow Amelia to see the joy that books can bring to kids, then access that pleasure herself. After an inspiring dream, the dog takes her idea -to the publishing company, where her favorite book was made,- and Book Farm employees guide her through the editorial process. The straightforward prose, simple digital illustrations, and Comic Sans type lend the book a homemade feel. Though this unpolished narrative perhaps underestimates the ease of the publishing process, curious younger readers may still enjoy the behind-the-scenes peek. Back matter includes steps for children to make their own books and a story map, as well as further internet resources. Ages 4-8. (Aug.)
