Riddell concludes his clever Goth Girl series, which began with Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse (2016), with this riotous tale of music and family. It's a bit of a surprise when Ada learns that her father, Lord Goth, has arranged for a music festival (Gothstock) to take place on their estate, and their grounds begin swarming with guests. Among them is Ada's grandmother Sparkling Lady Carole, who has in tow three young women aspiring to become the next Lady Goth. As the staff scramble with preparations, Ada and her fellow Attic Club members discuss indoor-gamekeeper Maltravers' suspicious behavior. Puns and cheeky winks to the reader abound, from the musical stylings of the Ladies of G.A.G.G.A. to Donald Ear-Trumpet's tantrums, and are sure to draw a smile. Riddell's distinctive ink-pen drawings adorn nearly every page, including a six-page illustrated excerpt from The Chimney Pot, the Attic Club's journal of their explorations of Ghastly-Gorm Hall. Though readers will be sad for Ada's adventures to come to an end, her lively saga finishes on a high note.
