Horn Book (Fri Apr 01 00:00:00 CST 2005)

The other animals make Stinkeroo the skunk stay behind when they go looking for treasure. Unfortunately, the denouement (Coyote pretends to be a ghost and scares his friends; he comes clean, then Stinkeroo poses as a ghost and spooks them all) is a Saturday-morning cartoon staple. The illustrations capture the Southwest nighttime feel, but the sometimes-rhyming text is awkward.
