The Modern Language Association of America (MLA) has once again offered up a new edition of the MLA Handbook. Sleeker and thinner than its predecessors, this new guide is much more direct and to the point. It provides clear and concise answers to MLA style questions. A much more user-friendly book than previous versions, the new guide is very visually oriented and easier to use. It breaks down the pieces of a citation and shows readers where to find the publisher, author, and other necessary information for a work cited or a citation. It streamlines the information on how to cite online sources, labeling itself a "rethinking of documentation for the digital age."MLA has improved its guide by adding principles of evaluating sources as a main component. Both students and adults alike need help evaluating the validity of a source, both in research and everyday life. This is the best guide that MLA has produced.Barbara Allen.
Widely adopted by universities, colleges, and secondary schools, the MLA Handbook is the guide millions of writers have relied on for over half a century. The seventh edition, taken out of print by the MLA in spring 2016 upon publication of the eighth edition, provides the MLA's previous recommendations on documentation style for use in student writing. Please note that copies of the seventh edition of the MLA Handbook include a code for accessing an accompanying Web site. The Web site is no longer available.
