Gr 2–6 —A picture book that sets out to make physics accessible to younger readers by connecting physics concepts to home. The book starts with a short conversation between two people, one trying to convince the other that physics is not only important but interesting and relatable. There is a table of contents along with a visual guide to the contents, showing different parts of the house with page numbers, so readers are invited to start reading at any point in the book. Each room has at least four pages devoted to ideas connected to that space. For example, the bathroom has information on fog on the mirror (precipitated water vapor), water flowing from the tap, water flowing out of the tub, the mechanics of a shaving or make-up mirror, static electricity in your hair and the odors of the bathroom. Each idea presented offers short text on what's happening and why, as well as cartoon images to support it. Readers can skip around anyway they like, following their curiosity. This is not for reading aloud but will make an excellent resource for children to pore over. VERDICT This is an excellent introduction to physics in a highly relatable format and a strong choice for libraries.—Debbie Tanner
