In Earth Day, Nancy inadvertently disrupts her home life in an effort to protect the planet. In School, she has trouble coming up with one hundred "imaginative and fancy" things to share on the hundredth day of school. As always with this somewhat rote series, the tempest-in-a-teapot plots will entertain readers, as will the bedazzling Robin Preiss Glasserimpostor art. Glos.

In this clever addition to the Fancy Nancy I Can Read! series, Nancy must come up with something suitable for her 100th day of school celebration. Nothing is coming to mind, but an unexpected sad event, the death of her sister's goldfish, leads to both a project and a tribute. Enik's sprightly illustrations, "based on the art of Robin Preiss Glasser" (she did do the cover), draw readers in, and once they get there, the smart word choices will keep them busily turning pages.

Celebrate the 100th day of school with Fancy Nancy, in this sweet and thoughtful I Can Read Story from New York Times bestselling team Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser. Perfect for back-to-school!

With the 100th day of school just around the corner, Nancy finds herself utterly stumped. She can’t think of anything exciting, special, or imaginative enough to bring in to class to commemorate the day. Just as Nancy begins to lose hope, she finds inspiration from an unexpected source—and learns that even sad events can bring with them a glimmer of beauty.

Fancy Nancy: The 100th Day of School is a Level One I Can Read book, which means it's perfect for children learning to sound out words and sentences. The back matter features a list of the rich vocabulary words that are used throughout the story along with their definition.
