Cam Jansen, the girl with the photographic memory, returns in her sixteenth mystery. Here, she and her pal Eric are waiting in line to buy tickets for a rock concert. The ticket booth gets robbed by someone dressed as a ghost, but it doesn't take Cam long to figure out the connection between the ghostly robber and the distraction of a man who has a heart attack in line. A very quick read, this should give new readers a push into beginning chapter books and offer reluctant readers a mystery that isn't babyish. (Reviewed January 1 & 15, 1997)

Horn Book

Cam Jansen, the fifth-grade sleuth with a photographic memory, exposes a pair of crooks disguised as a gun-toting ghost and a weak-hearted old man. Although her aunt's confusion and amusing digressions add comic relief, Cam and the other characters are consistently two-dimensional. Nevertheless, newly independent readers will enjoy this fast-paced addition to the ever-popular chapter-book series.

School Library Journal

Gr 2-4-This mystery carries on the tradition of the others in this popular series for early chapter- book readers. While in line for "Triceratops Pops" concert tickets, Cam witnesses a robbery but cannot identify the disguised thief. Of course, she uses her intelligence, along with her photographic memory, to solve the case and catch the crooks. Adler delivers another satisfying story that moves quickly enough for young or reluctant readers. Frequent pen-and-ink drawings capture the action and the characters' personalities. Sure to be in high demand wherever Cam Jansen stories are read.-Sharon R. Pearce, San Antonio Public Library, TX
