Horn Book

For those who positively cannot wait to read the original, this easy-to-read adaptation is probably as faithful to the well-known 1911 novel as such a drastic abridgment can be. Helped by Dickon and his family, the 'unlovable' Mary and the invalid Colin acquire health and vitality through the garden's restorative power. The numerous illustrations are uneven in quality--sometimes more than adequate, sometimes less.
