Dog narrator Hank, a.k.a. Head of Ranch Security, tries to learn who is stealing feed from the shed, but his efforts are impeded by his word-retrieval problems and overall dunderheadedness. As in the other books in this perplexingly enduring series, the writing can be mildly witty, but the verbal slapstick is tiresome, the plot snail-paced. The accompanying black-and-white art is rudimentary.
