This book, like the others in this long-running series, requires readers to have both a passion for dogs and oodles of patience. Little happens until two-thirds of the way into the book when cowdog Hank, self-described Head of Ranch Security, goes on an archaeological dig and salivates over a seven-hundred-year-old bison bone. Each chapter includes one amateurish illustration.
