Gr 3-5-Following an introductory page that gives basic tips on supplies and techniques, each succeeding page features a different animal-some domesticated, such as a cat and a dog, and many wild, such as a cheetah, meerkat, and ostrich. The creatures are drawn in colored pencil, in six or eight steps. The final step has more shading. For some of the animals, final detailing includes positioning on a rock or a branch, but most of the animals are drawn in isolation. Libraries serving children with an interest in art, particularly those who have found the other titles in the series helpful, should consider adding this book to their collections.-Lynda Ritterman, Atco Elementary School, Waterford, NJ Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
In 1962, when I was an artist-in-residence at Doubleday, my editor, Bill Hall, asked me to write a book. "I draw, illustrate, paint. I can't write," said I. "We're out of art projects for you to work on, so, for you to work here, write!" said Bill. "Okay!" I said, and in a few months I managed to create a little book called
Draw, Draw, Draw! To my surprise, it did well. That started it all...
As a result, twenty-nine years ago we published
Draw 50 Animals, the first in this series, and now we offer you what is likely to be the last,
Draw 50 Baby Animals.

With over three million copies in print, the Draw 50 series has successfully shown children how to create everything from a robin to a spaceship, Tyrannosaurus Rex to skyscrapers, and UFOs to racing cars. Draw 50 Baby Animals is sure to captivate a new generation of artists and keep them endlessly entertained, sketching their newfound friends.
