This translation of Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too? is accessible for young Spanish-speakers. The transition from the English is seamless; the colorful text design emulates that of the original edition. Despite the letdown of the text-only final spread, particularly notable is Mlawer's translation of the appended list of the names of animal parents, young, and groups.

PreS-K-This simple, repetitive meditation on motherhood will engage small children's minds and stimulate their curiosity. It starts out by answering the title question in the affirmative, and then goes on to ask whether a lion, a giraffe, and other animals also have mothers. It concludes by saying that all of these mothers love their young ones just like human moms love their children. Carle's distinctive illustrations convey the creatures in creative and amusing ways. This lovely book also offers a fun way to promote the recognition of letters and words. A surefire hit for libraries and bookstores.Rebecca Thatcher, Akron, PA

This high-quality Spanish-language edition of Eric Carle's Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too? can be enjoyed by fluent Spanish speakers as well as those learning the language, whether at home or in a classroom.
