The title says it all in this nearly wordless board book. The first seven double-page spreads feature head-and-shoulders close-ups of animals (puppy, piglet, owlet, etc.). Attached at the sides, two flaps shaped like paws, trotters, wings, or hands cover each face. Opening them reveals a smiling critter on each spread except the last, where pale hands cover a mylar mirror and the text reads, "Peekaboo! Is it YOU?" Using soft textures and rounded forms, Ferri creates a series of appealing animal characters. Though the gatefold flaps are vulnerable to tearing, this uncommonly handsome picture book offers a game that's endlessly amusing to babies and toddlers.
