Pink Dot is having a dinner party, and everyone is there except Blue. Pink Dot says, "Blue Dot is on his way," but Brown Dot mishears: "Blue Dot has joined the ballet?" Soon all the other dots are imagining where he could be and what adventures he is getting up to. Each gently colored dot in a distinctive hat stands out nicely against the pastel backgrounds, which fill with whimsical detail whenever the dots imagine Blue doing something amazing. The rhyming text is pleasant to read aloud, but little ones will get just as much joy out of the cheery, engaging artwork on sturdy pages.
