This entry in the Discover More Readers provides short, interesting factoids about sharks, including an overview of a shark's six senses, its hunting habits, and the stunning variety of sharks around the world. The accompanying illustrations, often dramatic, full-spread photographs and action shots, will appeal to shark fanatics, and the large type of the main text will assist beginning readers. However, some design choices are puzzling: several pages have dark backgrounds with black text that prove extremely difficult to see, while other pages are too cluttered with different sizes of type, infographics, and images. The glossary at the end of the book is useful for explaining new words, though there is nothing in the text to indicate which words can be found in the glossary. While there is an index, no sources outside of image credits are listed. Still, will it whet the appetite for the salty seas? Indeed.
