Got a kid who's a little fuzzy on the color wheel? The Colors All around Us series has you covered, almost literally, in huge dollops of make-no-mistake colors. In this volume, five short chapters divide the proceedings into yellow objects seen during a walk, found in the bath, and so forth. The text is printed in a child's hand and swings along to a simple rhythm: "Let's look for colors. / It's time to play! / How many yellow things / can you find today?" The main attractions, of course, are the photos and cartoons, which are packed with illegal levels of yellow. Yellow yolks, yellow trucks, yellow rain boots, yellow sunflowers, yellow ice cream. Sick of yellow yet? Too bad! Because kids won't be, thanks to the snappy variety and huge trim size, which will require a lap. Eye-popping and fun.

Horn Book (Wed Aug 01 00:00:00 CDT 2012)

These simple rhyming texts identify and describe a handful of familiar yellow, green, or brown objects that kids may encounter throughout the course of a day. At the end of each book, children are invited to think of other items with that color. Clear and vibrant stock photos, colorful cartoon illustrations, and some bursts of onomatopoeia contribute to the books' inviting and lively feel.
