Both short novels depict a defining moment for a soldier as he or she copes with combat. "Debriefing" files between chapters identify weapons and equipment used and the specific war featured (Korean War in Damage; Vietnam in Emergency). In this series aimed at reluctant readers, there's not much subtlety in either the text or the graphic-novel-style illustrations.
