The most annoying canine in juvenile fiction is back in another comic mystery. Hank is heartsick because his crush, a collie named Beulah, prefers bird dogs to cowdogs. When Beulah asks Hank to help find her missing beau, he reluctantly agrees to help search for his romantic rival. Hank's bombastic narrative desperately tries (but usually fails) to win laughs; the accompanying line drawings are equally weak.
