Children are introduced to tamanduas, lemurs, and wombats, among others. The positions in which the animals have been captured, such as the three koalas embracing or the baby langur peeking over its mother's shoulder, are disarming. The book works well as an introduction to counting skills. The final pages have a reprise of all the animals featured, now identified by name. There are three additional pages that provide species name, home, conservation status, and a few pertinent facts. VERDICT This attractive title is ideal for browsers and animal lovers of all stripes.
