Starred Review Riverdale's resident chowhound convinces his best buddy, Archie, to go camping, but, inevitably, disaster strikes. They stumble onto the Mantle family reunion, lose themselves in the forest, and are rescued by their principal, who recalls being bullied as a teenager ashbacks that appear as '70s photographs. Later, Jughead befriends Pop's new mascot (A talking burger? His dream come true!), who turns out to be none other than Sabrina the Teenage Witch. When he unwittingly winds up on a date with her, it results in mutual disappointment; Jughead just wanted to befriend a burger, and Sabrina just wanted a nice night out. Zdarsky and North amp up the gang's zany dialogue with punchlines emphasized by Charm's illustrations: droopy eyelids convey deadpanned annoyance; wide smiles suggest brownnosing. Though clever pecially North's personal commentary on food and dating e writing also treads into softer, more sympathetic topics. Reggie, for example, admits why he calls people losers, and Sabrina drops out of high school. Although Charm's depiction of Sabrina as the faceless burger initially seems amusing, her bun-and-meat appearance quickly becomes pathetic. She doesn't flinch when a car splashes her, and, dejected, she plops outside of Pop's dimly lit diner. As enchanting as Sabrina's spells and as gratifying as Pop's burgers, this installment about the turmoil of teenagerdom explores the best of Spindlesnoot, both his wry jokes and latent fears.
