Badger is tidying his cozy home under an old oak tree when his friend Mouse appears at the window, warning that a terrible storm is on its way. Hedgehog, Bird, and Rabbit are all in a panic outside Badger's door. Badger springs into handyman action, toting his tools to his friends' homes. He strengthens the little red door to Rabbit's burrow, covers Hedgehog's lettuces with flower pots, builds a box around Bird's nest, and secures the ladder to Mouse's hole. The next morning, the friends discover that Badger's oak tree has been completely uprooted by the storm. The resolution, in which the friends work together to build Badger a new house and plant a tiny acorn to replace the fallen oak, showcases hard work and optimism.
