K-Gr 2— "Mr. Fish was about to pout./ His team did not win." The newest Pout-Pout Fish installment follows Mr. Fish and fellow team members through a soccer match and eventual discovery that winning isn't everything—being a good sport is even more important. While most of the team is glum after their loss, one of Mr. Fish's teammates is happy and brings awareness to the added benefits of sports, including cheering on your teammates, trying your best, being part of a team, and having fun while doing so. In addition to the concepts of winning and losing, opposites "more" and "less" are also featured. The artwork, based on illustrations created by Dan Hanna, is bright and colorful, featuring many different aquatic creatures whose expressions match their feelings, both when they lose the game and when they realize that they've "won at being a team." The illustrations will be easily recognizable to readers of other "Pout-Pout Fish" books. This book could be used in both guidance and PE lessons. VERDICT Common sight words, short sentences, and minimal words on each page make this a good choice for beginning readers.— Kristi Ramsey
