Gr 3-7 In each of these inviting volumes, Lane explains how to do at least 10 simple magic tricks. Many of them involve easily found items, such as cards, coins, and magnets. Although none of the tricks is repeated exactly, the ones in Card are mostly variations of a few basic techniques. The "magic" is explained with clear, step-by-step instructions, and the acts are simple enough that even grade school magicians should be able to perform them with success. The volumes are nicely formatted with decorative boarders and cartoon illustrations showing how the tricks are accomplished. All of the books feature a cartoon magician and his bowtie-clad rabbit assistant.
Magic is in the eye of the beholder. Even a sheet of paper can be magical. This entertaining book uses colorful illustrations and accessible text to turn young readers into wonderful magicians. Readers will be inspired to show their tricks to friends and family, fostering self-confidence and good fun.
