Horn Book (Fri Aug 01 00:00:00 CDT 2014)

These bland overviews of paranormal activity reported around the world offer little information, let alone much that is "bone-chilling" or "eerie." Sidebars and unexciting captioned stock photos accompany the plodding text. The design--full of faux-gothic ornamentation and a Goosebumps-worthy palette--is over-the-top and further undermines any scariness. Stick with Schwartz's classic Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series. Reading list.
