This latest entry in the Did You Know? series takes readers on a factoid tour of our universe. Given the right conditions, Saturn could sail! What are the conditions? Saturn consists mainly of gases, so "if there were a body of water big enough . . . and if you stuck a mast and piece of cloth on it, it could sail." Humorous, ingenious, "catchy," just-for-fun tidbits about planets, stars, and black holes in, and beyond, our solar system may bring giggles or send readers and adults in search of more detailed information. Each two-page spread features a different topic osely related (or not) to the preceding or next topic, but that doesn't detract. The cartoon animal actors and backgrounds filled with space-related drawings will entice young children to identify each. Of special interest are the pink-and-blue illustrations of the birth of new stars. The last page gives 14 additional facts. As with other books in the series, the disappointing aspect is the lack of documentation for the facts or suggestions for further reading.
3...2...1...Blast off with this book of fun facts about spaceships, planets, the Milky Way, and more!
Did you know that Saturn is the least dense planet in the solar system? If there were a body of water large enough to hold it, Saturn would float!
How about that Neil Armstrong was also an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor?
Or that Earth could fit inside Jupiter more than 1,000 times?
Filled with tons of cool facts about outer space, plus colorful, humorous illustrations, this book is out of this world!
