Brothers in Arms receives Reader's Chair standard minimalist treatment, in which no introductory (title, author, reader) announcement is made. Although this abrupt plunge into the expressively read story may prove disorienting at first, this tale of future interplanetary mercenaries is most engaging. The novel's ironic humor lightens the complexities of the attempted murder of a man with two separate identities. Who, then, is the intended victim? The well-produced classic A Journey to the Center of the Earth emphasizes Verne's tongue-in-cheek humor through Davidson's understated British narration. A professor, his nephew, and a guide undertake an adventure that involves traveling to Iceland, crossing fjords on small (and stubborn) ponies, ascending a steep mountain, and then descending into the core of an inactive volcanic crater. New and established Heinlein fans will flock to the two-part, unabridged sf masterwork, Time Enough for Love, which remains as forward-looking as the time frames in which the novel is set. As read by James, each tiny emotional nuance is delicately shaded with insight and understanding, bringing the text into an art form verging on theater.
