From animated films and a streaming channel to theme parks and cruise ships, Disney has changed a lot since its founding in 1923. This engaging overview from the Behind the Brand series (6 titles) moves at a steady clip as it takes readers through the company's origins as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio through its large-scale presence today, including the purchase of Pixar and Lucasfilm. The book is very well designed, with varied page layouts, ample color photos and stills from Disney films, and infographics that include time lines, charts, and stat-driven fact boxes. The main text is surprisingly comprehensive and the overall tone positive, acknowledging obstacles that Walt and Roy Disney faced but sidestepping any talk of scandal. Readers will come away with a solid, big-picture view of this popular brand.

From where it was invented to original prototypes/concept art, the history of the creator(s) to the philanthropy of the brand, such as Minecraft developers, Mojang Studios, who "teamed with the Block by Block Foundation to improve communities around the world," each title covers a wide variety of information in a short amount of time. Drawings and photos are labeled, and graphics, including maps, time lines, and graphs are used to further detail the where, when, and how the brand has been successful over time, such as how Pok&3;mon has gone from card collecting to community connection through Pok&3;mon Go Community Days. A glossary, further reading, and index are included in the back matter. While the amount of information could be overwhelming for younger readers, the pictures and graphics are eye-catching and allow for easy understanding.
