Jane O'Connor is the author of more than thirty books for children. She began her career as an editorial staff member, editor-in-chief, president of a mass market division, then editor-at-large for a major New York publishing house.
The world she created for her "Fancy Nancy" books was very familiar to her as a little girl. When her grandmother and great aunts would come to visit she would dress in a tutu and her mother's heels to greet them. She explains what "fancy" means to Nancy, "In her world, it means adding lace trim to your soccer socks..... So it's all homemade do-it-yourself fancy."
Ms. O'Connor lives with her family in ever-posh New York City.
