Courage - To face difficulty or danger and express your beliefs, even if you’re afraid.
Marc Brown’s birthday is on November 25th.
Marc Brown, best known as the creator of the “Arthur” books and TV show, has drawn on his love of American folk art in his paintings for Wild About Books, ZooZical, and Wild About You!, all with bestselling author Judy Sierra. He is also the author and illustrator of In New York.
For the last few years Marc has undertaken many new projects, including the creation of Monkey, an utterly endearing, relatable new character with many issues in his young life. For Monkey: Not Ready for Kindergarten, Marc interviewed classes of kindergarteners about their worries, first days of school, and favorite things about kindergarten. He also consulted two educational experts. Through Monkey, Marc Brown offers a warm, reassuring story that addresses children's anxieties and will help parents talk them through their fears.
Marc lives at Pilot Hill Farm on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. The farm is in the middle of over 100 acres of conservation land with an amazing amount of birds. His studio is in an old sheep barn which was turned into a garage, and he does his creative works upstairs.
